Hello, We're Avril & David.....
.... providing enrichment with imanjenation
We are David Brien and Avril Young and we have owned or been owned by dogs all their lives! From puppies to rescues we have shared our home with many different breeds and characters.
Avril began her journey into dog training firstly for the show ring, then gaining experience in puppy classes and gaining Trick Dog titles with her own dogs while teaching others, before registering Imanje Pet Services in 2016, along with her partner, David.
We started our business by offering dog walking and added training as Avril grew her knowledge and desire to teach the things she loves most – Puppies, Scent Detection and Mantrailing!
Where David’s main responsibility is for dog walking, Avril heads up the training side, helping guardians start their puppies off on a positive learning journey before guiding them through the teenage years and into adulthood.
This is where our love of Scentwork and Mantrailing come in! For those busy puppies and those terrible teens, and into the golden years when our dogs start to slow down, these amazing activities are suitable for all. Both David and Avril incorporate sniffing into their walks and general training – providing enrichment! Avril also teaches Scentwork and Mantrailing in various locations in the Central Belt.
We are always updating our knowledge through workshops and courses and tweak our training courses accordingly. Our learning becomes your learning.
Our ethics are reflected in the organisations Avril is a professional member of: Pet Professional Guild, ICAN and INTODogs and we walk and train with a solid ethic of “no force, no pain, no fear (or intimidation).”
We are fully qualified, insured and have custom built transport, to always ensure the safety of your dogs. Providing a safe environment where your dog can learn, grow, and find enrichment is our priority.
What's in a Name? Imanje
Imanje's Wisdom: I nurture, heal, touch, bless, comfort and make whole that which is incomplete
Our Kennel Affix (owned and registered with the UK Kennel Club) - We chose our affix because of Loki’s love of swimming (which has continued to be a passion for our gang). Our home is not the same without our dogs and they certainly prove Imanje's Wisdom true!
In African mythology the Goddess Imanje rules the waters of the world, nothing can live without her, and for this reason among others, she is known as the Queen of the World and regulates night and day, the tides and rain. She is also the goddess of home, fertility, love and family - bringing forth life, protecting it, and changing it as is necessary.
Imanje is the goddess of comfort and inspiration. She reminds us that even the worst catastrophes can be endured and that, with her help, we can learn to negotiate the ebbs and flows of change in our lives with her wisdom, courage, and grace.

Loki
Loki came home at 7.5 wks old, February 2008.
From the moment he arrived, he filled our world with love, laughter and naughtiness, but in a true "prankster" style.
Loki was everything we wanted in a Ridgeback, his looks, his temperament: a family member, a show dog but most of all our best buddy!
He took everything in his stride from welcoming new puppies to our home, to giving the best cuddles and support to those in need. Loki was the most intuitive boy and knew when to give love and snuggles but also when to play around, like the goofball he was - he made us laugh every day with a new memory to last forever.
Loki was the reason we chose Imanje for our Kennel name, and why we could name our pet business nothing else!
Loki was awarded his Stud Book Number, Show Certificate of Merit, 1 CC and 2 RCCs along with many group and Best of Breed placings at championship and open shows. He also has his DMWYD Excellent Trick Title.

Sifa
16 September 2009 - 17 October 2022
Sifa was destined to come and live with us, from the day we brought Loki home. As his half sister (same mum), we waited 2 long years for her to join our family.
She was everything we wanted in a Ridgeback girl and she was so worldly wise and took everything in her stride, with a confidence, resilience and temperament to die for.
She began her career as a show girl and was shown by David in the ring, winning her way through breed classes, winning some lovely classes, groups and gaining her Junior Warrant/Stud Book Number at the tender age of 12 months. In her veteran years, she enjoyed learning agility and in her vintage years liked to keep the sofa warm, enjoy harvest time and still likes to chase the odd pheasant!
Sifa is Dam to our very own homegrown girl, Mika and her 4 gorgeous brothers.
Sifa holds her Junior Warrant, Show Certificate of Merit, 1 RCC and her Stud Book Number along with her DMWYD Excellent Trick Dog title.

Inca
24 October 2010
Inca was never one for showing off in the ring, although had some nice wins along the way. She loves to use her nose and after starting off tracking, she has moved into her veteran years enjoying the sport of Mantrailing. "you can run, but you can't hide" was definitely coined for Inca!
Inca is a sensitive soul who has taught us more than we could ever teach her.
Inca holds her Bronze KC Good Citizen Award, the DMWYD Excellent Trick Dog title and successfully completed her Level 1 Mantrailing UK assessment.

Mika
28 August 2013
Mika is from our Sifa and is own only litter to date.
Mika done well with some lovely class and group wins in the ring, but found it boring! So she began tracking.. which she was so good at, till she found all the wildlife! So we moved to Scentwork which she loves so much, she competes in Scentwork UK trials (currently qualified at Level 5). Mika has also joined the sport of Mantrailing and is enjoying finding people too!
Mika holds her Bronze & Silver KC Good Citizen Award, the DMWYD Excellent Trick Dog title, the SWUK Excellent title for Level 3 scentwork and has successfully completed her Level 1 Mantrailing UK assessment.
